WHEN WE ROW

We launch from a dock in the Port of Poulsbo Marina on Liberty Bay.

Regular rowing times are:

  • Tuesday and Friday mornings 6:15-8:15 am

  • Monday and Wednesday evenings 5:45-8:00 pm

  • Saturday and Sunday mornings open row 7:45-10:00 am

Winter Season

During the winter season, open rows will be held at 9:00–11:00 am on Saturdays and 8:00–10:00 am on Sundays, weather permitting. The erg room will be available for member use, with coached erg sessions 7:00–8:00 am or 8:00–9:00 am on Tuesday and Friday mornings, and 6:00–7:00 pm Tuesday evenings. Members should sign up for these sessions through the calendar.

Indoor rowing (erging) has many benefits. In addition to perfecting the stroke technique for on-water rowing, it improves cardiovascular fitness and endurance, and may also help to build bone mass. For inspiration, here are links to some interesting articles on the benefits of erging:

GUEST ROW

Kitsap Rowing Association welcomes visiting rowers aged 18 years and older to row with crew during scheduled rows. Guest rows are also available to experienced rowers who are interested in becoming members.

KRA provides three guest rows without fees. Individuals wishing to continue rowing beyond the guest rows are asked to join the club. Please refer to Membership.

The second Kitsap Invitational Summer Scrimmage (KISS) will take place on Sunday 28 July, from 6:30 am to 12:00 noon, on Liberty Bay. KRA is co-hosting this event together with Bainbridge Island Rowing and Clam Island Rowing. This rowing regatta involves four- and eight-person rowing shells and one-, two-, or four-person rowing sculls, from several West Sound rowing clubs (Kitsap Rowing, Bainbridge Island Rowing, Port Angeles, Rat Island Rowing, Tuf’ as Nails, Sequim Bay, Clam Island Rowing, and Vashon Island).

The KISS is a USRowing Association (USRA) sanctioned event adhering to all rules of rowing and USRA/KRA safety procedures and has been approved by the US Coastguard.

Shells will launch from Oyster Plant Park. The approximately 4800 m course starts at Pearson Point, heading north on the west side of Liberty Bay. Boats, turning at the North Buoy positioned with the Gazebo at Waterfront Park and returning to the finish line at Pearson Point.

KRA is committed to providing a welcoming and safe environment for participants in all activities. Immediate safety issues that arise during a row should be reported to the coach, coxswain, and/or launch operator; otherwise, please contact any member of the KRA Board or Safety Committee. All concerns will be addressed promptly and confidentially.
